Creating a Production Company Logo

When producing a production company logo, I had to think of a name for the production company and discover the aesthetic I wanted it to convey.

Because I decided that my production company will be independent, I wanted the company name to directly correlate. Therefore, I decided to name it 'Independent Productions' - which is a name that is short, clear and to the point, allowing people to easily remember it and associate films with it.

After coming up with the name for my production company, I started working on the logo. I used a graphic design platform called 'Canva', which I became familiar with during the process of creating my Foundation Portfolio. The platform enabled me to create moving, as well as regular logos in a fast and easy way.

During my first draft, I created an animated production company logo with the main focus on a clicking camera. However, I was not satisfied with it and decided to further explore different designs that I could produce. This was due to the fact that I thought the logo was naive and not refined enough.

Therefore, I continued to work on the logo and soon created one that I thought fit the aesthetic that I was trying to achieve.

I kept the same background colour that I used in my first draft as I believe beige and neutral tones are calming, as well as sophisticated. These tones depict an image and mood that my short film generates. Additionally, I used a thin geometric 45-degree angle with multiple lines to convey the image of a spotlight in a creative and minimalist way. I further added an animated black outline box that moves clockwise while encompassing the graphics used.

Overall, all of these details have been carefully thought of in order to be seamless and subtle, yet still fit the atmosphere and narrative of my short film. I also decided to have an animated logo to help immerse the audience and gain their attention from the start.

I'm really satisfied with how the logo turned out as I believe it matches the brand of my company and the type of films that are produced by it.
