Creating an Official Social Media Page

After researching social media pages of production companies and films, I started working on my own social media page for 'Nostalgia'. From the research I had conducted, I realised that creating an official Instagram page would be the best option to reach a greater audience. With the platform being highly visual, I was able to customise my page to my liking and upload the content I was satisfied with.

First, I created an official Instagram page for my production company - 'Independent Productions'. I believe that by doing this, I was able to understand how utilising social media can help develop production companies relationships between films, audience members and possible distributors.

For the production company's account, I focused on creating a social media page that felt authentic and incorporated a number of different products - such as, the various projects that have been released or are coming out soon, merchandise and even fan art. Therefore, I edited a much larger number of posts and followers for this Instagram page.

The account acts as a powerful platform that showcases Independent Productions' behind-the-scenes content, teasers and interactions with their audiences. It helps build a connection with fans in a more personal and informal way, creating a sense of community and anticipation for its upcoming releases. Additionally, it promotes its films, such as 'Nostalgia', and helps them build followers on their own Instagram accounts.

Soon after, I started working on the official Instagram page for my short film. During this period, I continued to look at Instagram accounts of successful films to further gain valuable insight on how to create engaging posts and build a loyal following. By studying the content, tone and audience engagement of these accounts, I believe that 'Nostalgia' was able to have its own account with a clear brand identity, as well as compelling and consistent visuals to attract followers and promote the film.

In posts where there is text displayed, I used Canva to add a specific font, 'Libre Baskerville', that conveyed a consistent look throughout my Instagram feed. This was particularly important when creating a sequence of posts that acted as a countdown for the release of 'Nostalgia' on HBO - which built a strong visual identity that reflects the film's tone and overall vibe, making it easier for the audience to connect with the final product and its characters.

Additionally, I posted multiple reviews for the short film on its Instagram page. This was a significant aspect of my social media page as it helps build credibility, generate buzz and attract more followers. Reviews from critics and the general public can serve as social proof, showing that the film is worth watching - by sharing positive reviews, my account is able to reach a wider audience beyond its existing followers and promote deeper engagement.

Moreover, the official page of my short film has several posts and stories - which can be seen on the story highlight of the account - that require interactivity from the public. This kind of content helps create a sense of community, foster engagement and drive organic growth. Polls, questions and watch parties encourage followers to participate, share their thoughts and opinions, and interact with the film's brand. To add, by fostering engagement, these accounts can also increase visibility - as Instagram's algorithm favours accounts that have higher engagement rates.

Overall, all of the details, posts and stories in the official social media page for 'Nostalgia' have been carefully thought of and created to create a sense of branding and engage with the audience. The fonts and colours used throughout the social media page were chosen to fit the narrative of the film and match the brand of my production company.
